Frequently asked questions

Are payment icons free to use on my website?
Yes. Payment brand logos can be used freely on websites to indicate accepted payment methods. This is called nominative fair use and is permitted by every major payment network's brand guidelines.
Can I use Visa and Mastercard logos in my footer?
Yes. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and every major card network explicitly allow merchants to display their logos to indicate acceptance. You don't need to register, ask permission, or pay a fee.
What size should payment icons be in my website footer?
The standard footer payment icon height is 24px to 48px. 24px works on tight footers; 32 to 40px is the most common; 48px is best for prominent display. ToolsForTasks Payment Icons Generator exports at any size from 16px to 512px.
Should I use SVG or PNG for payment icons?
Use SVG. SVG icons are vector-based, scale infinitely without blur, support transparent backgrounds, and have smaller file sizes than equivalent PNGs at typical web resolutions. Use PNG only if your CMS doesn't support SVG uploads.
Do I need permission to display Visa, PayPal, or Apple Pay logos?
No, not if you're a merchant who accepts that payment method. Displaying the logo to communicate acceptance is permitted use. You can't modify the logos (no recolouring of card-style versions, no adding effects), and you can't imply endorsement of unrelated products.
How do I add payment icons to WordPress, Shopify, or WooCommerce?
Download an SVG or PNG from the generator, upload it through your platform's media library, and insert it in your footer widget or theme template. Most modern themes accept SVG uploads directly; older WordPress themes may require the SVG Support plugin or a PNG fallback.
What payment methods should I show in my footer?
Show only the methods you actually accept. Including logos for unsupported methods is misleading and can be a payment-network compliance violation. Most small e-commerce sites display 4 to 8 methods: the major card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), one or two wallets (PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and any regional rails relevant to the customer base.
Will showing payment logos in my footer increase conversions?
Yes — independent UX research from Baymard Institute and CXL has consistently shown that displaying recognised payment logos at checkout increases trust and reduces cart abandonment by 8 to 18 percent depending on industry. The biggest gains come from showing the customer's preferred method prominently.
Can I use these icons in emails, invoices, or business cards?
Yes, the same rules apply: you can use any payment brand logo to indicate that you accept that method, in any medium. Use the high-resolution PNG (256px or 512px) for print, and the SVG for email signatures and digital documents.
Why do my payment icons look blurry?
Almost always because a low-resolution PNG has been scaled up. Fix it by using the SVG version (which never blurs) or downloading a PNG at twice the size you display it (for example, download at 96px to display at 48px to handle Retina/HiDPI screens).

Logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are provided for use under nominative fair use to indicate accepted payment methods.
