How It Works

This tool compresses PDFs by re-rendering each page as an optimized image and assembling them into a new, smaller PDF. All processing runs locally in your browser — no files are uploaded to any server.

Quality Presets

  • Low Compression: Highest image quality with moderate size reduction (~10-30%). Best for documents you need to print.
  • Medium: Balanced quality and file size (~30-60% reduction). Good for sharing via email or messaging.
  • High Compression: Maximum size reduction (~50-80%) with lower image quality. Best for archiving or when file size is critical.

Tips

  • PDFs with large embedded images benefit most from compression
  • Text-only PDFs may not shrink much since text is already compact
  • Try Medium first — it gives the best balance for most documents
  • Compressed PDFs retain page dimensions but text becomes non-selectable
