What is a Text Diff Tool?
A text diff (difference) tool compares two pieces of text and highlights the changes between them. It shows you exactly what was added, removed, or modified.
Common Use Cases
- Compare AI Outputs: See how different AI models respond to the same prompt.
- Code Review: Quickly spot changes between code versions.
- Document Editing: Track changes made to documents or articles.
- Content Comparison: Compare drafts, translations, or versions.
- Debug Prompts: See exactly what changed in your AI prompts.
Comparison Modes
- Word by Word: Compares texts at the word level. Best for prose and natural language.
- Line by Line: Compares each line separately. Best for code and structured text.
- Character: Compares every single character. Best for finding subtle typos.
How It Works
This tool uses the Longest Common Subsequence (LCS) algorithm to find the optimal diff between two texts. Added text is highlighted in green, removed text in red with strikethrough, and unchanged text remains normal.
